Present in 110 countries and with more than 60,000 members, AIESEC (Association Internationale des Etudiants en Sciences Economiques et Commerciales) a youth-run, not-for-profit organisation,Reaching out to children, seeks to develop leadership skills among the youth through its programmes. It engages students and graduates in international exchange and internship programmes with profit and non-profit organisations across the globe.

Project Footprints is an initiative, piloted by AIESEC Chennai. It aims at providing underprivileged children with the opportunity to receive and express ideas pertaining to child rights, child empowerment and development. This is accomplished through various initiatives across five weeks which include interactive workshops, seminars and educational drives. By engaging NGOs and corporation schools across the city, Project Footprints seeks to equip children to make a positive impact on society.

Project Footprints features the participation of several interns from AIESEC international network who will serve the project across a host of city NGOs. Each impact week lasts five days and structured day-wise themes have been planned during the week spent with the NGOs:

Day 1: Health and hygiene

Day 2: Free eye-checkups by the Dr Agarwal Eye Hospital

Day 3: International Cultural Exposure sessions conducted by AIESEC international interns

Day 4: External Resource-Person session

Day 5: Arts and Crafts

Bringing together celebrated artistes, the event will include performances, art competitions and talent shows. This year, Balakalakaar seeks to touch 7,000 children lives.
